The new British Magazine WW11, A Brief Review
If you have been watching your mailbox for the first issue of the new British Magazine WW 11, from Great Northern Publishing, the gestation period is over, IT HAS BEEN BORN. You will not be disappointed, the cover carries the famous photograph of British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, on his return from being fooled by Hitler, and brandishing his piece of paper to declare " Peace In Our Time."
Page 4 carries a map of Europe in 1939 marking Hitler's annexed territories, it took me racing back in time to the declaration of war on the 3rd. of September 1939, I was already at sea as a 17 year old Cadet Midshipman in the RAN, with the unknown staring me straight in the face. Many of us faced the next 6 years in so many different ways, get your copy of WW11 to read how some ordinary folk recall their service. As a Navy type I was delighted to read two accounts by ex WRENS, there are book reviews, letters to the editor, nostalic cartoons.
