The Japanese Version of Op Deadlight - story of the IJN submarines that surrendered at the end of the war in the Pacific by Derek Waller

May 21, 2011

Dear Mac,

Further to our recent exchange of messages re the "proper" Operation Deadlight, I have also written-up the story of the IJN submarines that surrendered at the end of the war in the Pacific - nearer to home for you!

I therefore attach a copy for info.

Japanese (IJN) Submarines that Surrendered
(Including 7 ex-U-Boats) by Derek Waller (pdf)

I also attach a copy of an article scripted from it by Bob Hackett as shown on the website: www. combinedfleet.com

The Final Destruction of Japan’s Submarine Fleet
By Bob Hackett and Derek Waller

At present I am still trying to track down a copy of the early 1946 COMSUBJAP plan for the destruction of the remaining IJN submarines, but no luck so far.

Finally, I only got into this because I was searching for info re the 7 ex-U-Boats which surrendered under the IJN flag, and because I was looking for the precise details of their final demise - thus I do not pretend to be an expert on anything to do with the IJN per se!

nevertheless, I hope you find it interesting.

Yours aye,
Derek.
