von Manstein, one of the greatest army commanders of all time?

Dear Mr. Gregory,

I am reading your article on Hitler’s FMs and find it very interesting reading. The photos you provided are well chosen. I have always felt that von Manstein is one of the greatest army commanders of all time. 

He and “Monty” are my two favorite generals.

Thank you for your kind comments on my German Field Marshals.

In my mind there is no doubt that on the German side, FM Manstein stood head and shoulders above all his peers.

Both Manstein and Monty were self promoting, but if you are that good its not suprising.
