re: SMS Emden crew list especially wireless operators?

November 1, 2013

Hi Mac.

Hi Mac.

I hope you are well. I saw the letter from Pat Kelly of Sidney, B.C., on the SMS Emden crew list. Pat may care to check out the following documents available online on the National Archives of Australia:

NAA Title: Enemy Subjects - German Prisoners of War ex S.S. "Emden" http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp?B=47649
Page 9

NAA Title: Forwarding lists of prisoners of war ex "Emden" received on board the transport "Orvieto" and "Omrah" at Colombo on 16/11/1914
http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp?B=372558
Pages 2-6

NAA Title: "Sydney" -"Emden" Action Notes of crew of Emden
http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp?B=404459
Pages 10-13

By the way, in one of the documents, I came across a longitudinal section view of the Emden in five parts. I managed to stitch the parts together to form one image (see attached). If you zoom in, it’s quite detailed.

Martin.

Regret I did not keep Pat's email address.

Regards,
Mac.
