Was Eastlea sunk by U-48 or U-106?

November 7, 2012

Hi Im from ST.Johns Newfoundland Canada. I was reading a post on  AHOY-MACS WEB LOG today from someone who said his father was in the Eastlea and it was sunk by U-48 with a Capt Herr Schultze. (see "Father sailed as 2nd Officer on SS Eastlea, sunk by U-48"). My grandfather was also in the Eastlea and I read it was sunk by U-106 Capt Jurgen Oesten. Do you know the right story?

Thank-you for reading this and if you answer

me.

Joy,

According to the U-Boat net, Eastlea was sunk by UB-106

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Mac.
