W.D. Puttock, Acting Petty Officer, HMS Voltaire

Dear Mac

Naively I had no idea this sort of information existed I was just thinking about my Dad and keyed in the word VolItaire and all this information came out.

My Dad served on the Voltaire as Acting Petty Officer I believe and was taken prisoner when she was sunk.

Do you have any more information on him? I remember him telling the story that he and a few others escaped from the prison camp only a few days before a regiment from the Blackwatch rescued them.

Yours sincerely
Steve Puttock.

Steve,

All I have is the fact your Dad is listed in this HMS Voltaire Roll of Honour at Number 126 under Prisoners of War. He is not mentioned in Roger Coward's Book " Sailors in Cages."

Regards,
Mac.
