Ship named Platypus circa 1878?

Hi (or should that be Ahoy?)Mac;

As I was looking for info about a ship named 'Platypus' it led me to your site  -- could there have been an earlier vessel of the same name?

I am seeking background info for a man named Antoine Valery, French citizen, born Corsica; his naturalisation document states he arrived in 1878 on the ship 'Platypus' (NSW Certificate of Naturalisation, No 477, State Records of New South Wales) -- point of arrival not stated.

Could this ship be the same 'Platypus'? Can't find its arrival listed in either NSW or Vic. records.

I cannot find any reference to the Platypus of 1878.
