Rachel Adair McBride Lamont and Alexander Lamont survived sinking of Athenia

My mother & I were suvivors of the ATHENIA.

MY MOTHER'S NAME, RACHEL ADAIR MCBRIDE LAMONT, died years ago at age 87.

I, Alexander Lamont  was 10 years old, we were trapped down in lower deck but luckily escaped to upper deck by climbing an engineers escape ladder.

Back a number of years ago I wrote our Athenia story. being picked up by the Southern Cross, then transferred to HMS Escort Then on to Greenwich on the Clyde.

I am constantly suprised that survivors from the tragic Athenia sinking on day one of WW2 still get in touch with me.

I would  love to have your account of the sinking, so we might add that to our Athenia Pages for the wider community.
