POW by the name of Edgar LeBlanc served in  Madrono that had been attacked by the Raider Thor

WW2- Maurauders of the Sea

Good evening. Just last week I happened to be involved with research that involved a former POW from Nova Scotia Canada. As a result I happened to get the name of a former POW by the name of Edgar LeBlanc. I contacted him by telephone. It turned out that he had served on a Norwegian Ship Madrono that had been attacked by " Thor."  I am now in the process of writing up his story. Thanks to your Web Site I was able to become aware of the story as it has been written. He has quite a story to tell. He was listed as a Britisher, Oiler on the Crew List but he had signed up in Halifax Nova Scotia. A British Subject, A Canadian, who was known as "Canada " to his shipmates who were nearly all Norwegian.

I had spent many years in searching for information many years ago about my wife's brother Gordon Chase of Dartmouth Nova Scotia who had lost his life while serving in the Hoegh Silverdawn that was destroyed by the "Michel". Then too I was able to complete the final chapters thanks to you.

I expect that shortly I should be in a position to share any information you would be interested in.

Hello Wilfred,

Thank you for your interesting E-mail, I am pleased that my WW2 Marauders of the Sea allowed you to close two chapters on stories you were involved in, one for Thor and the latter for Michel. These German Raiders from both world wars have always fascinated me, particularly how the individual Captains maintained the discipline and interest of their crews, all alone on the world's oceans, and so far from home.

I would be grateful to benefit from your work when you are ready, so I may add your stories to AHOY to expand our knowledge on a personal level of some of the victims of these predators.

Hoping you are enjoying Easter over in NS.

Best wishes.
Mac.
