Oropesa Float used in minesweeping operations in WW2 found in Bermuda

TK,

I was asked by Edward Harris who lives in Bermuda, and is the Director of the Maritime Museum, about this mystery bomb/torpedo type object washed up on his property there.

I told him it was an old Oropesa Float used in minesweeping operations in WW2, and obviously quite harmless. Here are two Newspaper pieces about it.

In the second one we get a nice mention about AHOY.

One never knows where we will get our next E-mail from.

Only on Monday last a very beautiful book Bermuda's Forts. 1612-1957. written by Edward arrived in my letter box to say thank you for my help.

Not really deserved, I did very little in fact.

Regards,
Mac

Mac;

As requested, have been in the Bahamas.

Am embarrassed to say that we have since discovered a small float in our collection stores in mint condition!!!

Edward
