National Geographic film on the Gustloff, Goya and Steuben Dear Mr. Gregory, I am writing from Partisan Pictures, a documentary film production company in New York. I am producing a two-hour film for National Geographic Channel on the Gustloff, Goya and Steuben. I have come across your site on several occasions and find it very informative. I am wondering if you have contact information for any of the authors of "The Cruelest Night", Christopher Dobson, John Miller or Ronald Payne. I am looking for an historian/expert to appear on-camera, someone who can speak to Operation Hannibal and the escape of refugees by the Baltic in 1945. I would like to contact the above-mentioned gentlemen, but I am finding them impossible to find. Many thanks for your assistance. Erica, Thank you for your E-Mail, no unfortunately I do not have any contact information about the people you mention. Are you aware of a book The Damned Don't Drown, by A.V.Sellwood, and published by Naval Institute Press at Annapolis Maryland in their Blue Jacket Books in 1996, it was originally published by Allan Wingate ( Publishers) Ltd, of London in 1973. I note it was reprinted by arrangement with Mary Blyth Selwood as heir to Arthur V Sellwood, so no doubt he died. This book is about the sinking of the Gustloff, and, if you are unaware of it, it may be helpful background. Some few years ago I think your History Channel in the US did a piece about the Gustloff, they may have some contact points for you. I am sorry I am so little use to your cause. Best wishes with your film, Mackenzie Gregory. Mr. Gregory,
