Subject: Mary Rodwell

Hi Mac

I am a freelance journalist currently researching an article about the Upper Norwood war memorial in the Upper Norwood/Crystal Palace area of south London.

The area sits in and on the edge of five parishes, one of which St Paul Penge is actually in Hamlet Road, Upper Norwood London SE19.

One of the names listed on the memorial board in St Paul's for the First World War is M A Rodwell. The name does not appear on the Penge War memorial although 58 of the 100 named on the St Paul's memorial do.

The only M Rodwell listed on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website is Mary Rodwell. As well as your piece about her, a piece also appears on the COHSE union website here in England.

The reason I am writing is to ask if you could please forward this email to Hamish Hall, who is described as being a relative of the heroine to see if - just possibly - they are one and the same person.

No mention is made of her having a middle initial. But the COHSE website mentions she did do private nursing in homes and, prior to the First Wiorld War, most of the area in Upper Norwood was full of large houses.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Jerry Green

Jerry,

I regret that I do not still have Hamish Hall's e.mail address.

It would seem tro me that this note about Mary is the one about which I have written.

Regards,
Mac.
