Is RAN planning to name another ship Shropshire? At the recent "Anniversary of the Philippines Invasion Reunion" at Ulverstone, Morrie Richardson was telling me about your site. He was a bit vague about its title, but I have eventually tracked it down. Congratulations - I can see I will spend many happy hours perusing it. I rang Morrie last night to see if he had more information - he was telling me that Stan Nicholls had evidently had some communication from Admiral Ritchie, re our submissions that there should be another RAN ship named "Shropshire" - he intimated that there appeared little hope. I am pleased that you think Ahoy will provide you with some happy hours, my friend Terry Kearns, and Web Master in Atlanta, Georgia is responsible for its format, and turns my writing and research into what is seen when anyone clicks onto our site. We do get a lot of both feed back and questions about what appears on AHOY. I enjoy the contact with many people around the world. No, the Canberra/Shropshire Association in Victoria do not have any information about the RAN planning to name another ship Shropshire, but it does seem unlikely. In my view any large ships they commission are more likely to be named Canberra or Australia. Nice to hear from you. Kind Regards,
