HMS President III was not a seagoing ship but a Shore Establishment

April 24, 2011

Hi, I have a book which lists all the WW2 warships of the British Navy (including a couple apparently borrowed from Poland).

The book belonged to an Ernest Hill of the above ship and he used it as a diary. Every day he recorded , in green ink, what happened to which ship and on what day. It`s fascinating.

Can you help please.

Carol

Carol,

HMS President III was not a seagoung ship but a Shore Establishment, firstly at Bristol, then moved to Windsor in England.

It carried all the pay records of the Defensively Armed Merchant Ship sailors who served as DEMS Gunners in various Merchant Ships.

Best regards,
Mac.
