I came across this article this morning and thought I would forward the link to you.  I have no other knowledge or information and this was the first I had ever heard about this event.  http://www.defence.gov.au/media/download/2009/Jan/20090112/index.htm 

"Following the discovery of the wrecks of HMAS SYDNEY and HSK KORMORAN by The Finding Sydney Foundation in March 2008, the Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal A.G. Houston AC, AFC, established a Commission of Inquiry, charged with the following Terms of Reference:..."

I knew that yet another inquiry had been ordered by the Chief of Defence, but had not anticipated anything useful would result, I trust your 2009 is fruitful.
