H.M.H.S. Vita poems

H.M.H.S. Vita

Whilst recently editing poems written by my father who served in "Vita" from 1943 - 45 I discovered your web site and the history of  the ship. Following from Stephen Hadley's photograph from his Grandfather's album I thought that both of you might be interested in the two attached ones, Ladyship (0001 and 0002) and Grand Tour which covers most of the places mentioned in the photograph.

From some verses written for Christmas cards (not attached) at least one of the nursing sisters was Australian.

My father used a pen name "Elephas" which described his initials L.F.S. and he was a doctor, I think the Medical Officer in Charge, but as he died in 1962 I can't ask him!

If you consider it is appropriate I would be grateful if you would pass the poems on to Stephen Hadley.

Regards, Jenny Cribb

Hello Jenny,

Nice to hear from you and to read your Father's poems which I have sent on to Stephen Hadley.

Sometimes its a small world, and AHOY acts as a catylst to bring different people on the internet together.

My thanks for your trouble and best wishes.

Mac.
