Grandfather, Douglas Ralph, was on board HMS Juno and was presumed lost at sea

Hello Mackenzie

In your article titled "The Story of the Gunnery Officers Box", you mentioned finding a photo of HMS Juno blowing up after getting hit by a German bomb. My grandfather, Douglas Ralph, was on board HMS Juno and was presumed lost at sea, and my Dad has the letters his mother received about his father.

If you still have access to this box, would it be possible for you to send me a copy of this photograph?

Kind regards
Andrew Ralph

Hello Andrew,

Thank you for your message. I do not have the Gunnery Officer's Box, It was Commander Bracegirdle's, and at his death, his son Nicholas Bracegirdle in UK inherited it. Andrew is it possible to share with me, the letter your Dad has, that was sent to his Mother at the time of  your Grandfather's death in HMS Juno?  With your Dad's approval, we would like to add it to the story by Nicholas about his Father's Gunnery Officer's Box, that is up on AHOY.

By copy of this E-Mail to Nicholas I am asking him if it is possible, and the Photo of HMS Juno is available could he please E-Mail a copy to you, thank you Nicholas, and trust all is well with you. Mac.

Andrew, this is just another example of the power of the internet, and how it brings different people across the world together through a common interest.

With kindest regards,
Mackenzie. Gregory.
