Letters

Glasgow to Wellington in Captain Cook

September 20, 2010

hello Mac, my name is Peter Stones at the age of 15 in 1952 I came out from Glasgow to Wellington on this ships first emmigrant run, on board were my mother, father and 3 other brothers. I was also on its second to last voyage with passengers in November 1959 when it took me with the 2nd Battalion NZ Infantry from Wellington to Penang, Malaya. It then brought back the 1st Battalion to Wellington from there it went to the breakers. As a  remarkable coincidence I was allocated exactly the same bunk, same cabin on my second trip as I had on my first.

Regards Peter Stones.

Peter,

What a coincidence, and also of interest.

Best regards,
Mac.
