George F Crowe served on the Voltaire and was killed during the action on 4th April

Hi, Mac

I was really pleased to find so much information about HMS Voltaire.  I have been looking for information  as my uncle George F Crowe served on the Voltaire and was killed during the action on 4th April.  I know nothing about him - my father never talked of him - and I would like to find out what I can. Any information would be of great interest.

Andrew Crowe

Andrew,

Yes, AHOY has had a great deal of interest in the sinking of HMS Voltaire, and the subsequent time of her crew who survived as POW's in northern Germany.

Here are your Uncle's Details from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site. His name is recorded on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial on Panel 50 in Column 2.

I will try to find that detail and send it to you.

Best regards,
Mac.
