From Paul Ripley

Dear Mac,

How much I enjoyed your wonderful site. I was born in N E England just after WW 11, but of course for my father and his friends it was the defining event of their lives. I doubt if some young people have any appreciation of it. I saw an in memorium in the Daily Telegraph the other day, of a man remembering his brother. He finished "when England was still England." I know what he means.
With Kind Regards,
Paul Ripley.

Hello Paul,

My thanks for your kind remarks, it is always pleasing to get positive feedback.

I am continually suprised about what interests different people around our world that they have found on Ahoy.

The running of it is done from Atlanta Georgia, by my good friend Terry Kearns, I am responsible for the content, but the lay out, getting it all onto Mac's Web Log is the hard bit, and Terry does all that, always with a great sense of humour, and enthusiasm. Some one recently commented from Holland, "Well you make a great team!"

I can also relate to the comment about England, I remember my 18 months working out of the Clyde and Liverpool in 1940/41, then returning for the 6 months of my Sub Lieutenant's courses over May/November 1941.

Times of bombing in Portsmouth and even in Brighton etc.

Dark days indeed, but the country and its people were just wonderful, a time I recall with pride that I too was there, and we survived.

Nice to hear from you, and thanks again for writing.

Regards,

Mac
