Finding a family friend billeted at McIntyre Air Base see "Tocumwal Historic Aerodrome Museum" and "Visit to Tocomwal New South Wales 11/13 June 2003" Dear Mr Gregory, I am sorry to bother you with this matter, and I am aware that you may not be able to help me. I read your page about the McIntyre air base and it is regarding that that I am writing to you. Tocumwal is my families home town, and during the war my grandparents billeted several american servicemen. One in particular kept in touch for several years after the war. His name was J.J. Fritzler and I have been trying to locate either him or his family. I have had no luck. He was from Denver Colorado. I was wondering if you would have any advice on how i would be best to go about finding him. Thank-you for your time,
I suggest you telephone my friend Kevin O'Neill, at Tocumwal, tell him I suggested you call him, and ask him to give you the name and number of the Historian at the Museum at the old airfield. He may have records of the person you are after, and his war time squadron. If you know what Squadron from the US airforce he belonged to, they may still run an Association in the States, Failing that, have you tried to get the Denver phone book up on the internet to see if his family are still around today. Good Luck. |
