Figureheads on the ships of the early explorers to North America?

Hi Mac,

I was wondering if during your martime research you have come across any information about figureheads on the
ships of the early explorers to North America? ie. John Cabot, Jacques Cartier etc. Or even Christopher
Columbus. Could you recommend a source - magazine, book etc that might contain such information.
