Ellis Jackson may have been the gunner on the Otaki when it was attacked by the Raider Moewe

Mac,

Thanks very much for the work you put into the website - it has been a mine of information.

I believe a relative of mine (my Father's Uncle) Ellis Jackson may have been the gunner on the Otaki when it was attacked by the Raider Moewe.

My father (now 79) recalls as a small boy being told by his mother that his uncle (he didn't remember which uncle - we discovered who via the web) had been awarded a medal for bravery for continuing to fire his gun despite having suffered a serious leg injury (he may even have lost his leg) whilst firing at the Raider Moewe.

I have only just started to research my family history and it was very exciting to get my first good "find" - thanks to your website.

Thanks once again.

Peter,

I am pleased that AHOY was of some use to you.

It is very gratifying for both my Web Master Terry Kearns in Atlanta Georgia, and myself when we receive mail such as yours.

It suddendly makes all the grind and many frustrations worthwhile.

Have a lovely Christmas.

Best wishes .

Mac.
