May 21, 2010

HI,

I am Mark Paton from Manchester UK, I am trying to find as much info about my grandfathers brother Edward Paton killed on the HMS Ladybird in Tobruk harbour May 12th 1941.

I just wanted to know of any articles or stories concerning this as its taken me a long time to find out how he died and what ship it was and what year etc,he was twenty one years of age at the time ,my father told me he had been married that day by special license to an Italian girl .true or not I am not sure ,anyway I would be grateful of any leads you could give me if at all possible ,

kindest regards
Mark Paton

Mark,

As a starter here is Edward's Certificate from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site, his name is
recorded on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial at Panel 49 and in Column 1, you should also note he was
Mentioned in Despatches. He is also noted as being married.

I will be in touch again shortly.

Best wishes.
Mac.
