Thank you for your opinion, it is an interesting theory. I actually find it hard to accept that anyone in the British higher command would destroy 379 lives deliberately to obtain one suitable body to pose as Major Martin. Rather, the accident ( I believe caused by carelessness in not attending to a petrol leak, together with rather sloppy handling proceedures) having happened, the opportunity to use the body of John Melville became too tempting to resist. I do agree that the saving of perhaps 30,000 lives from this deception, should be credited to all who died. Bill, I am not nit picking but compliment in the context it is used should read complement.
