Dear Mackenzie

Would you please forward this email to Hannah.

Dear Hannah

It is our sad duty to announce the death of our father Colonel William Nicholas Stafford-Gaffney late of the
Kings Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on Friday 15 May 2010 in Sydney, Australia aged 95.

We thought the Association would like to be aware of his passing as during the war, at Freetown in West Africa, in August and September 1941, he was given the temporary rank of Captain of Artillery by the Royal Navy as he was repairing the guns and other parts of HMS Repulse for sadly, her final battle. He never forgot this privilege extended to him by the Royal Navy. He asked us, his sons, to thank them and to alert you at the association.

His funeral is being held at 1500 on Tuesday 25 May 2010.

Yours faithfully
Simon Stafford-Gaffney
