Christian August Krohne, told me he sailed with Graf von Luckner

January 11, 2011

My Grandfather, Christian August Krohne, told me he sailed with Graf von Luckner while serving as a ship's chief engineer for the Hamburg American Line prior to WW1. He gave me Prof CHR. RAVE'S picture of the /SEE ADLER/, under full sail, signed by the count and dated by him: 10.9.28. That picture does not show a mast head.
Do you have any thoughts about this variation?

Respectfully,
Eric Krohne

Eric,

Could you please send me a copy of your picture of Seeadler? I guess I have only seen copies of Racv's work with the ship under a press of full sails.

Regards,
Mac

Eric,

Thanks, I guess that is the usual picture of Seeadler one expects to see from Professor Rave's painting.

I cannot think of seeing any that is different to your copy.

Regards,
Mac.
