Arthur and Lily Moses, were aboard the Athenia when she was torpedoed

Hi,

I came across your site, and saw that someone said they had found passenger lists for the SS Athenia. My great-grandparents, Arthur and Lily Moses, were aboard the Athenia when she was torpedoed, and were among those that made it into the lifeboats. The story is that they were only loading women and children, so my great-grandmother pretended to faint do that they would allow her husband to get into the boat with her. Anyway, I've been looking around the internet for a while trying to find out how to get a hold of a passenger list for that voyage. Any help / advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Shragy,

I cannot find your great-grandparents on the lists of Athenia survivors that I do have, the City of Flint took those they rescued to Halifax, the Norwegian Tanker Knute Nelson took its load to Galway, and they are not on those lists.

I have a cabin list and the Moses do not appear in those under M.

A lot of survivors were rescued by the British Destroyers Ecort, Electra, and Fame, to be landed in Scotland, to date, I have not found any consolidated list for those survivors , and can only assume that the Moses were amongst those picked up by a British Destroyer.

I am sorry I cannot find your great grand parents.

Best wishes.
Mackenzie.
