American Great White Fleet's world tour visited Melbourne

Hello Mac, do you know anything about a visit from the American Fleet before the First War? Ii is believed to
have visited Mirboo North in South Gippsland perhaps in 1907 or thereabouts.

In August of 1908, 16 US Battleships as the American Great White Fleet's world tour visited Melbourne, See this URL: The Victorian Colonial and Royal Australian Navies, and the visit of The Great White Fleet to Australia, August 20, to September 5, 1908 for a report on AHOY about this visit.

It had far reaching effects on the Australian public, awakened the need for our own Navy, and in 1911 the Royal
Australian Navy came into being.
