4th Graf Spee 1939 Bell? December 26, 2008 Dear Mackenzie, I was goggling information and found out that you have had two inquiries about a 7and ½ inch brass bell with the markings described by the student, Patrick. Based on his photo, I also have an identical bell. I do not know where it came from as it was found it at a garage sale many years ago. Pam Eubanks
There are certainly a number of these bells around the world. I believe they were cast probably in Germany as a memorial to the loss of Graf Spee, they turn up in all sorts of places. Thank you for your mail. Best wishes, |
